3rd Annual BC Sardine Fest

For the first time this year, I attended the BC Sardine Festival in Steveston, British Columbia. The small, but energetic attendees make the event a fun filled family outing. Several chefs were on site for Sardine demonstrations. I managed to arrive in time for the beginning of Stephen Wong's cooking demonstration with Japanese Miso paste spread on Sardines. At the close of the demonstration, little children dress in sailor outfitts and caps with the BC Sardine Festival logo on their costumes diseminated into the seated audience to serve some tasty Sardines cooked up by Steven Wong.
It was a terrific way to spend a Saturday afternoon with a plate of freshly cooked Sardines in front of you, while taking in the Jazzy band music in the background as you sit on the pier of the Steveston docks looking out into the distance. It is only the third year this festival has been taking place in Richmond, but I am certain that it will continue to grow and attract others from different parts of the Vancouver.
